The East Norwich Fire Company is looking for motivated individuals who are ready to serve their community, challenge themselves, and become part of a team built on service, training, and trust.

Fire and emergency medical services throughout the East Norwich Fire Protection District are provided by volunteers, members of our own community who choose to step forward when their neighbors need them most. They come from different backgrounds, professions, and walks of life, but they share a common purpose: to be there when it matters.

You could be one of them.

No Experience Necessary

You do not need prior firefighting or emergency medical experience to join. Every member starts somewhere, and new members are provided with the training, equipment, and support necessary to develop the skills and confidence required to serve safely and effectively.

Through the fire service, members have the opportunity to receive professional training and certifications in firefighting, emergency medical services, emergency response, leadership, and other areas of public safety. Some choose to focus on firefighting, others pursue emergency medical services, and many eventually do both.

What matters most is not what you already know when you walk through the door. It is your willingness to learn, train, work as part of a team, and make a meaningful commitment to the community you serve.

More Than Volunteering

Few volunteer opportunities place you in a position to make such a direct difference in the lives of the people around you.

As a member of the East Norwich Fire Company, you may respond to fires, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, storms, and other calls for assistance throughout the community. You will train alongside experienced members, learn how to perform under pressure, develop skills that can stay with you for a lifetime, and become part of a team that depends on one another when the stakes are highest.

The experience can challenge you in ways few other volunteer opportunities can. Over time, you may find yourself capable of doing things you never imagined when you first joined, while becoming the person others can rely on when they need help most.

What We Ask of You

Volunteer emergency service is rewarding, but it also carries real responsibility. Members are expected to train, participate, work as part of a team, and maintain the standards necessary to safely serve both the public and one another.

Applicants must:

• Be at least 17 years old

• Successfully complete a background check

• Successfully complete the required physical examination

• Meet applicable membership and training requirements

You do not need to know today exactly where the fire service might take you. You simply need to be willing to take the first step, learn what the job requires, and discover what you may be capable of becoming.
